Coupled Groundwater Flow and Heat Transport Modelling

Key to our modelling success is choosing the right model for the right purpose, always with pragmatism at the core of our methodology. We have delivered large-scale assessments using the simplest techniques, avoiding the temptation to over-complicate the process. Often, we find the better understanding you have of a situation, the simpler you can make the assessment technique. Central to this is how we conceptualise the study area, starting each modelling project with a strong grounding in the first principles of how the geology came into being and what controls and influences the source, discharge and movement of water and thermal energy.


Our speciality is applying the Finite Element modelling software FEFLOW to coupled groundwater flow and heat transport modelling for ground source heart pump and geothermal applications. Here, we have undertaken sustainability and optimisation assessment for system design as well as environmental impact and cumulative impact assessment for regulatory approvals.
